Knowing Him, M.L. |
|
There is a Someone, Someone you can open to. There is a Someone, Someone who will take you through. There is a Someone, When there is no one. There is a Someone, a wonderful One. There is a Someone, Someone in my hardest times. There is a Someone, Always there though rain or shine. There is a Someone, When there is no one. There is a Someone, a special One. There is a Someone, Who will take you as you are. There is a Someone, He will reach you near or far. There is a Someone, He's the most lovely One. Just take this someone, the loveliest One. There is a Someone, Who can touch your inmost being. There is a Someone, He can make your heart to song. Christ is a Someone, Christ is this precious One. Just love this Someone, the wonderful One. (From a song written by Howard Higashi) As a young person raised by parents meeting with the local churches, I have been blessed to have the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee to enjoy. I grew up in children's meetings here in Greensboro. Every Lord's Day morning, the children had a time of singing and afterwards a lesson given by the serving ones. It was then that we all learned about the Bible, God's calling in the Bible, and the Lord. I've benefited so much from those lessons, but the real lessons I did not learn until a few years later. Although I was raised meeting with the local church, there were choices I had to make on my own. The believers here have stressed that it is not enough that we just go along with our parents to the meetings. We, on our own, have to make a personal choice to pursue God. I made this choice on April 6, 1996, then again on June 30, 1996. But I did not have the appreciation then that I do now. It was after that consecration experience that I started to learn the real lessons. I had a realization that it was not sufficient merely to know about the Lord objectively. I needed to know Him subjectively. I knew all about Him in the Scriptures, but I truly did not know this Someone. Through the Lord's grace and mercy, He granted me inward experiences of Himself. He became the Someone, in the song above, to me. The more I experienced Him, the more I knew Him, and the more I loved this wonderful One. Even today, I am continuing to experience and love this One. To quote the ministry of Witness Lee: give yourself to love the Lord. No other way is so safe, so rich, and so full of enjoyment. Just love Him. Do not care for anything else.
